Copyleft is reciprocal free software licence that requires all derivative work to use the same kind of licence as the original work. If the original work is free, open source and shareable then any derivative work that use its software must also be free, open source and shareable. A permissive software licence is a free software license which instead of copyleft protections, carries only minimal restrictions on how the software can be used, modified, and redistributed, usually including a warranty disclaimer. For example, if the original software is free and open source, a permissive software licence does not force the derivative software to be free and open source.
